Inauguration of Ram Mandir: Which states have declared January 22 to be a public holiday?

Launch of Ram Mandir: Ayodhya is undergoing extensive preparations for the “Pran Pratishtha” ceremony on January 22.

The ceremonial opening of the Ram temple in Uttar Pradesh’s holy city of Ayodhya on January 22 is eagerly anticipated by the whole nation. The “pran-pratishtha” function, which will include Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the main guest, is undergoing extensive preparations. Thousands more have been invited to the eagerly expected ceremony, including politicians, celebrities, and saints.

The national government stated on Thursday that all government offices will be closed for half a day, raising expectation. In addition, a number of state governments have announced half days or public holidays in their jurisdictions.

States that have declared January 22 as a holiday:

Uttar Pradesh

On January 22, Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, ordered the shutdown of all educational facilities in the state. Also shuttered will be liquor stores.

Gujarat

On January 22, all government offices in Guajrat will be closed for a half-day in observance of the Ram temple’s dedication.

Chhattisgarh

All government offices will be closed till 2:30 pm on Monday, according to a statement made by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday.

Madhya Pradesh

All schools will remain closed for the day on January 22, while government offices will be closed for half a day till 2:30pm. Additionally, a dry day has also been announced in the state.

Haryana

The state’s schools will all stay closed. The state administration has also declared a dry day

Odisha

All the government offices, as well as the revenue and magisterial courts in Odisha, will remain closed for half a day till 2:30pm.

Assam

The Assam government has declared a half-day for the government offices and educational institutions till 2:30pm.

Uttarakhand

All government offices in Uttarakhand will remain closed for half a day till 2:30pm, while educational institutions will be shut for the day.

Maharashtra

The Maharashtra government on Friday announced a public holiday in the state on January 22.

Rajasthan

The Rajasthan government has declared a half-day holiday for government offices in the state.

Goa

All government offices and educational institutions will remain shut for the day in Goa.

Tripura

All government offices and educational institutions across Tripura will remain closed till 2:30pm, an order issued by the state government said.

Haryana

The Haryana government declared a half-day holiday for government offices and educational institutions.

Chandigarh

On January 22, the Chandigarh union territory administration announced the shutdown of all of its offices.

Puducherry

N Rangasamy, the chief minister of Puducherry, declared a public holiday in the union territory on Friday.

Banks will not open on January 22.

In light of the significant event in Ayodhya, the ministry of finance has also issued a directive requesting that all banks close for a half-day on Monday. The directive states that all insurance providers, financial institutions, public sector banks (PSBs), and regional rural banks would be closed until 2:30 pm.
