On Sunday, Nitish Kumar named Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha of the Bharatiya Janata Party as his deputy chief ministers.
The new deputy chief minister of Bihar and BJP politician Samrat Choudhary has replied to the criticism leveled against his turban.
Nitish Kumar named Choudhary and Bharatiya Janata Party member Vijay Kumar Sinha as deputy chief ministers on Sunday.
On Sunday, Kumar dissolved the Mahagathbandhan and the opposition alliance INDIA to create a new Bihar government with the BJP. All in all, it was his fifth crossover before his ninth term as chief minister in little over ten years.
In 2018, Samrat Choudhary left the JD(U) to join the BJP. Following the NDA’s victory in the 2020 assembly elections, he was appointed vice-president of the state unit in 2018 and later became a minister in the chief minister Nitish administration.
After Nitish quit the NDA and re-joined the RJD and Congress in 2022, he began wearing a saffron turban, claiming he would remove it after “dethroning” Nitish.
In response to a query on his vow on Sunday, Choudhary struck a conciliatory note, stating that he made the commitment during a very sensitive time.
“To me, the BJP is like a second mother.” I tied the turban after my mother departed. At a news conference today, he remarked, “I’m willing to bow my head in Ayodhya in honor of the second mother if that’s what it takes.”

“In Ayodhya, I will unveil the turban,” he continued. I’ll prostrate myself at Lord Ram’s feet.
On Sunday, Nitish Kumar announced his departure from the INDIA bloc, citing “things not working well” inside the alliance. Later on, he partnered with the Bharatiya Janata Party to create a government.
In 2013, Nitish Kumar initially joined the Mahagathbandhan after leaving the NDA. In 2017, he left the alliance and joined the NDA. He teamed up with Lalu Yadav’s party once more in 2022.
