Congress continues its attack on Himanta Biswa Sarma as a “corrupt CM.”
Jairam Ramesh, general secretary of Conress, attacked the chief minister of Assam for attempting to “abuse & defame” the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra earlier in the day.
On Friday, the Congress went back to attacking Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as a “corrupt CM.” The Congress stated in a tweet on the social networking site X that the chief minister had registered a police complaint (FIR) against the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra because Rahul Gandhi’s revelation of his corrupt regime alarmed him.
The party posted on X, saying, “The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra was initiated by Shri @RahulGandhi in Manipur to question the destructive politics of the BJP in the state. The BJP was unable to stop him.” Rahul Ji also emphasized the PM’s hollow assurances to the Nagaland people.
“Now that Rahul ji is exposing the corruption under the BJP’s leadership, the Yatra is passing through Assam, and CM Himanta Biswa Sarma is spooked. By filing a FIR against the Yatra, the BJP CM is now using intimidation methods. We won’t allow the BJP to stop Rahul Gandhi ji from advocating for the people of Assam through NYAY,” the statement said.
The BJP could not stop Shri @RahulGandhi from starting the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Manipur and questioning the destructive politics of the BJP in the state.
Rahul ji also highlighted the empty promises made by the PM to the people of Nagaland.

The Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra organized by Rahul Gandhi was the subject of legal action on Friday by the Assam Police, who claimed that the organizers had deviated from the legally sanctioned path.
Cong general secretary Jairam Ramesh attacked Chief Minister Himanta Sarma earlier in the day, saying, “The Assam CM can abuse and defame, he can threaten and intimidate but we are not afraid.” Despite his ongoing attempts to sabotage it, he is clearly troubled by the immense effect of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which would continue in Assam for an additional six days, Jairam Ramesh wrote on X.
“We will give permission for any alternative route if they seek,” the chief minister of Assam responded on Thursday when asked if he would allow the yatra to travel through Guwahati.
Sarma threatened to launch a complaint later if the Congress arrived in Guwahati without authorization. Three to four months after the Lok Sabha elections, he warned, two “bad elements” who were present at the event will be apprehended. Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi responded to his statement by saying, “The people are with us.” We won’t be afraid of anyone or any false reports. No government can stop us in a democracy.
In an interview with Guwahati media, Himanta Biswa Sarma declared, “This is a ‘Miya Yatra,’ not a ‘Nyay Yatra.'” There will be people anywhere there are Muslims. There won’t be a throng somewhere there are no Muslims.”
“Only the guys will be present; not even their ladies will emerge. It’s going to be a Miya Yatra without the ladies in Assam. A few Miyas will take part in this Yatra, thus I am not giving it much weight,” the BJP leader continued.
