Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, stated on Tuesday that the hackers tried to access his Facebook account.

According to Sarma, an attempt was made this evening. Additionally, he claimed that early research suggested that hackers could be based in Pakistan.

Sarma had earlier on Monday drawn attention to a fictitious film that featured clips of his speech impediment. He said that a deliberate attempt was being made to stifle his expression by using a false video as he shared it on his X platform.

The chief minister of Assam also voiced worry about criminal groups propagating false information.

“Observe for yourself how special interests slant speeches as elections get near in order to unlawfully disseminate false information and sow division in the community. These elements will be dealt with by the long arms of the law,” Sarma said in an X post.

In response to Sarma’s accusation, Assam’s Director General of Police (DGP), GP Singh, swiftly stated that the CID will file a criminal case and look into the situation.

“I agree, sir. DGP Singh stated that CID Assam will file a criminal complaint and look into those who are behind them.
